Introduction

  In order to cooperate with the characteristic development of the school, the General Education Center of National Chi Nan University (NCNU) has built Shui Sha Lian University Town in recent years, connecting the university and the community, and developing the characteristic teaching of general education with the spirit of local practice. NCNU considers itself a green university, combining the rich natural ecology of the campus and the nearby area, and attaches great importance to the cultivation of green and ecology-related talents. In order to implement the development of the three characteristics of local practice, green ecology, and Southeast Asian culture, NCNU has revised the curriculum structure of the whole school since the 102 academic year. In addition to the original three curriculum areas of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, NCNU has added characteristic general education areas, so that all students in the school can learn various general education courses.

  NCNU's general education concept aims to align with the development and positioning of the school, and promote the three characteristics of local practice, green environmental protection and Southeast Asian culture. In terms of curriculum planning and design, the curriculum of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and characteristic General Studies is developed according to the strict operation of the three-level curriculum committee. In terms of teacher quality and teaching quality, the three-level teacher evaluation Committee and the whole school teaching development mechanism are used to ensure the continuous improvement of teachers' professional quality and teaching quality. In terms of teaching resources and environment, we will build a living and learning area on campus, organize general lectures and arts and cultural activities, and build a university town in the community to provide students with high-quality and distinctive learning resources through public service and social participatory learning. In terms of organization, administrative operation and self-improvement mechanism, General Education Center operates independently. We actively participate in university-wide teaching development committees and seek financial and human support from both internal and external programmes to continue to promote general education.
